BAMBOO PIECE
The most bamboo species are native to warm and moist tropical and to warm temperate climates. However, many species are found in diverse climates, ranging from hot tropical regions to cool mountainous regions and highland forests. Bamboo is also an excellent plant for land rehabilitating. That’s because the bamboo is able to save or store about 5000 liters of water. One hectare of bamboo field can adsorb 50 tons of carbon dioxide. These characteristics make bamboo very reliable to maintain the current and future of our environment and earth.
Indonesia is one of the countries that has a lot of bamboo. Bamboos include some of the fastest-growing plants in the world, due to a unique rhizome-dependent system. Certain species of bamboo can grow 91 centimeters (36 inches) within a 24-hour period, at a rate of almost 40 millimeters (1+1⁄2 in) an hour (equivalent to 1 mm every 90 seconds). That is why it is not only easy to plant, but also easy to find bamboo everywhere. Here, bamboo is used for building materials, as a food source, as a raw, and often depicted in art, such as in bamboo painting, handicraft and other bamboo work.
In Indonesia, you can find the bamboo garden everywhere. Maybe, because of the weather and temperature, it is very suitable for them, so they can go basically everywhere in the country. Bamboo( Indonesians call it Bambu) can grow in both low and high lands 100-2200 m above the sea. But some kinds of bamboo can not grow on high land with very low temperatures. They could wither in a short time. The bamboo in Indonesia usually grows near wet places like rivers or lakes. They basically grow there naturally because of the climate aspects. Those aspects include sun, rain, and also humidity. The more wet the land is. Bamboo can grow there faster.
Bamboo, like wood, is a natural composite material with a high strength-to-weight ratio useful for structures. Bamboo’s strength-to-weight ratio is similar to timber, and its strength is generally similar to a strong softwood or timber. We choose the best bamboo to be the material for our craft. Besides from the forest, we also get the bamboo from our plantation that we have developed.
